Last week was pretty crazy. Z resumed class so Buzz and I got to spend extra quality time together. I baked jumbo cookies - chocolate chip, and sugar cookies covered in mini-chocolate-chips. I also managed a batch of highly successful FF barley flour hamentashen. Then on Thursday I baked up a full batch of caramel popcorn.

On Friday we drove down to The Sun House. The weather got warm for the weekend - with some weird rain mixed in. On Shabbat morning we went to the early minyan with The Freddies and heard parshat zachor. I ended up napping for almost 3 hours in the afternoon. So
I was very awake for megilla reading at the neighbors' house - which Buzz came to and he behaved himself very well for an antsy 10-month-old who likes to be on the go.

Purim morning came quickly. We dropped off shalach manot in Sheinfeld and had a delightful visit with S&S. Buzz dressed up as a chocolate chip cookie (The Crazy Lady put together adorable costumes!) and he had such a great time showing off his tricks for his Bubby & Zaydie! I've got to admit that his favorite part of the visit might have been getting a special tea biscuit snack. That kid is all about his snacks.

We made our way back Home via The Freddies on Sunday evening. We dropped Phil off at Freddie's - Buzz slept the whole ride - even though we made a stop in Petach Tikva. When we got Home he'd had a pleasant almost 2-hour nap which he woke up from in THE happiest mood it took close to 2 hours for him to get sleepy enough to fall asleep for the night. In the meantime he made 'soup' out of some stuffed rats and a colorful octopus in my enormous jumbo stock-pot (that kid is a tiny culinary genius - like his Mama.)

Today was super duper boring. I spent most of the day lazing around watching tv. I did play with Buzz though - and he surprised me by opening his bottle and drinking from it! I was so impressed! That silly kid 'can' do it he's just lazy. Somehow I can't decide if that's comforting or not.

In other news - Buzz loves quinoa. Especially in this new salad that we tried out with pumpkin. He's such a strange little kid.

Mr Gato

Last Tuesday we visited The Freddies and enjoyed a baled potato and melty cheese dinner at their house. It was a lot of fun and we spent a long time coloring in various birthday signs for the weekend.

Wednesday was very boring. I was stuck in bed, under the weather. So Buzz and Z played without me all day. Except of course for when he helped me do laundry - a process which culminated in him watching the washer spin for 15 solid minutes. He dances to the sound of the machine and 'presses' the buttons (I love the child-lock feature on my machine - have I mentioned that before?) he makes me laugh so much!

On Thursday we cleaned up the house, packed out bags, and drove to The Sun House. We arrived quite late and quickly got Buzz to bed. I must admit - I appreciated (very very muchly) that Z cleaned the stovetop, countertop, and washed all of the dishes.

Friday morning Z and I went to the dentist. Then Phil and I ran some errands and got The Crazy Lady's birthday present in order. We presented her with a cute little FF recipe book of our favorite FF recipes. Sarah Leah joined the fambily for Shabbos which was a lot of fun even though Buzz was sort of kind of super kvetchy. We ate a lot of cake, and drank some mojitos, and had REALLY good chicken soup. It was a really nice weekend.

After Havdalah we got Buzz into pjs and then hopped over to S&S's house to wish some Happy Birthdays! Buzz had fun smiling and showing off his 6 pearly whites then he chased after his ball and explored a little bit. I was really excited to get a fancy new coloring book and can't wait to get home to use it!

Tomorrow Z has to go pick up some house-related-papers and then we'll head back Home. That's the plan anyway. Hopefully Buzz will be in a cheery sort of mood and won't cry for the duration of the ride. Maybe we'll stop off and pick up some groceries on the way. We do love our trips to Rami Levy!

Baby Mascot!

This morning after a nice hot shower and a delicious french fry and scrambled egg breakfast we went out to run some errands. We stopped at the 'garage' to get our front headlight replaced - it burned out sometime in the last week or so. Then we picked up a can of WD-40 and finally got a stopper for the bathtub. We had a stopper but it was half an inch too big to fit into the drain properly...Quite frustrating to be honest.
Our last stop was at the spice store. I kind of went wild and got a little bit over excited there. Turns out that they're stocking tiny chocolate chips - bittersweet, milk, and white chocolate to be precise. I also got vanilla beans, and some nuts because my freezer ran out. I also picked up what I thought was a kg of powdered sugar but when I got home I realized that it is a kg of cornstarch. I would go and return it but it will make a fun 'sensory play' activity for Buzz when the weather gets a bit warmer.
This afternoon Ita came all the way from Jerusalem to play. I think she had a good time with Buzz - who was in an excellent mood on account of being so overtired that he couldn't stop giggling. She hung out for a few hours before heading out into an un-forecast-ed evening rain shower.
Sara is supposed to come and visit but I'm not sure when that's going to happen. Buzz needs a bath and I should probably figure out what to make for dinner. I took out some chicken for a stir-fry but we're running on just-about-empty as far as veggies go so I'm going to have to get creative.
Tomorrow we have plans to visit the Freddies for dinner. Something about a Swiss cheese and potato party - I'll have to take pictures because I'm not exactly sure what that even means. All I know is that it should be fun!

Son of a Biscuit!

Last Wednesday was busy - the guys came over to play Settlers. I served baked ziti, and fresh peasant bread for lunch. Followed by cinnamon buns for dessert.

Thursday was pretty crazy too although I didn't actually get anything much accomplished. Z had a final exam and a meeting with a teacher. Meanwhile Phil got a pretty cocktail shaker and I didn't. I did however eat a lot of cookies.

Friday was crazy busy on account of not doing anything on Thursday. I rummaged through the freezer and found a small container with just enough soup for Friday night. I also found two challah rolls. We didn't have cola or chumus (two of our usual Shabbos staples) because I didn't want to go out shopping. Z was a little upset about the cola but we enjoyed homemade lemonade instead. I also baked up a batch of brownies to enjoy over Shabbos and enjoy we did.

Shabbos started and we relaxed. I actually managed to read over 400 pages of a random fiction series that I borrowed from the university library. Our bagels and spread lunch was highly enjoyable. The day went by relatively quickly (thanks to Buzz taking an amazing 3 hour nap in the early afternoon.)

Saturday night I remedied the chicken pot pie situation. I had baked it with herbed dough as a crust on top but ended up overcooking the dough - so Saturday night I popped the whole the whole thing off and replaced it with a batch of corn muffin batter then baked it. Ohmygoodness Z and Buzz both enjoyed it SO much! Definitely a win - and we are definitely going to be doing that again.

This morning Z went out to the library to work on his thesis. Buzz took a nap, amazingly enough it lasted for over an hour with no wakeups. I didn't do anything productive which was probably silly of me. Tonight I'm hosting book club at our house and the place is a mess. (I consider 30 empty water bottles strewn across the entrance hall a mess anyway...) A bigger problem is that I'm supposed to lead the discussion but I'm not exactly sure where to begin or where to end.

Last Friday we took a trip to the university library. Buzz got bundled up in his little hat, and I wore him in the carrier (to avoid the whole stroller in the library issue.) He seemed to enjoy the quiet atmosphere, and loved looking at all the books as we walked up and down the closely packed aisles.

Z took out the 'one day' copy of my book club book, 'the feminine mystique' which gave me the whole of Shabbos to read it. The food was really good - shepherds pie, amazing soup, delicious pan fried chicken cutlets. It was toasty warm in our apartment thanks to our nice new heater from S&S.

We spent Sunday afternoon in Tel Aviv at the Azrieli Mall with Phil. We shopped til we dropped and had an amazingly fun time.

Monday morning Z headed off to work in the library while Buzz and I hung out. I didn't get much accomplished but bath time was especially fun.

This morning we had a fun playdate with our neighbors from across the hall. Before they arrived I had baked: a batch of chocolate chip muffins, double-chocolate stuffed bun, and cinnamon buns. After they left I baked up a batch of bagels and a batch of peasant bread (no-knead, 3hr loaves!) Sara dropped by to pick up some goodies and smother Buzz in kisses - but she couldn't stay long since she's really busy studying for finals. Z washed up the dishes and then it was time to catch up on some tv. All in all a very enjoyable day.
