Broka Fone

On Wednesday we spent the day at the Rishon Lezion branch of Ikea. Buzz had so much fun driving the stroller around the nice wide spaces. Phil & I danced in the elevators and made friends with the security guards. We bought replacement drinking glasses and wine-glasses - we seem to go through both quite quickly - good thing that they're only about 3 shekels apiece.
Thursday was also busy. I worked hard to get all of the laundry done and all of the cooking finished. A couple of Z's friends came over to play Settlers in the afternoon. I spent all day cooking in super-slow-mode so it took a really long time to get everything done. But we still got to bed by 9pm and I crashed.
All of my hard work paid-off this morning when I got to sleep in and lounge around like a lazy lump until after 10am. Z brought me fresh pancakes topped with ice cream for breakfast in bed. Then we went out to town and bought some tiny chocolate chips to bake cookie brittle next week. We also picked up a bag of ravioli so that Z and Buzz can enjoy a ravioli lasagna! We stopped off at the bakery for some borekas for breakfast and Buzz got half of one with his lunch.
Ita and Sarah Leah will be joining for Shabbos this week - so that should be fun. The house is clean, the guest room is set up, the food is made. I'm off to relax a bit more. Have a great one!

Sammy Adam

We spent most of yesterday cleaning. We cleaned the bathrooms, and the bedrooms, and the guest room. Mostly we cleaned the guest room. A lot. Because it was full. Full of dust, and junk, and projects, and models, and papers, and so much other stuff. We would have just left it as is - but we're having company this weekend. So we needed the beds cleared off. That meant cleaning became necessary. So we did it. Buzz enjoyed our cleaning spree because he got to pretend to be Godzilla - and ripped apart a city - literally. Even though it was a very tiny city - he was very happy. It seemed to give him a great sense of accomplishment. I guess that's a good thing. All in a day's work.
Yom Haatzmaut this year was better than any holiday that I can remember in a long time. We kicked off with a dinner bbq with the Kfares Sara, and Asher her fiance!!! Did you catch that?! Sara and Asher are officially engaged!!!! We are so excited - because, you know - that's the appropriate emotion for crazy exciting things like Doda Sara getting engaged!!!
This morning we woke up bright and early - at the crack of dawn... Ok, I'm exaggerating a bit - after a late night Buzz slept in until 6am. So we had a few hours to get things organized and pack up the diaper bag. Then we drove out to The Freddies house for a deeeelicious bagel brunch!
Freddie worked a shift today - a nurses work is never done! So we headed Home at a little after noon. I got right to work - baking potatoes, kneading up a batch of dough for hamburger buns, and prepping whatever I could for the thrilling third-part of our Independence Day celebrations!
Finally the whole famBily arrived! We jumped right in and prepped the shishkabobs, shnitzels, burgers, and veggie-kabobs. I whipped up a batch of bbq sauce. We set up the big grill and Timmy got the coals hot hot hot. Then we grilled! Finally everything was ready and we feasted! Boy was it delicious. A veritable feast! Then once we were stuffed to the gills with amazing food - we took a short digestion-aiding intermission - and then it was time for... DESSERT! Oh my goodness. You would not believe the sheer quantities of amazingness in which we indulged. I almost don't believe it - or I wouldn't - if not for the total sugar-high that I am still riding.

I've got to get some sleep - tomorrow is another busy day. Hopefully I'll find some time and energy to tell you all about it sometime soon! Layla tov and Happy 65th Birthday Holy Land!!!

Beee doooo beeee dooo...

We have been very busy around here and I've been lazy (explains the lack of updates, right?)
Book club last night was a lot of fun. After Z & Buzz spent all morning in Jeru on an 'adventure'. We upgraded Buzz to his snazzy new 'bigger boy' car-seat. (Since he doesn't fit in the infant carrier any more! Less than an inch between the top of it and his noggin!)
We finally got a chance to celebrate a very special first birthday with CAKE! I had a blast making it yesterday! I'd never made marshmellow fluff without corn syrup before - it came out great! Only downside is that if you don't use it straight away it sort of deflates when stored in a bowl. Still the coating on the cake stayed fluffy and in-place - overnight in the fridge!
Buzz seemed quite excited when we sat him down in front a a kid-sized-cake with all his favorite fuzzy buddies in attendance.
I think it was pretty successful! I saved the 'Toy Story' paper-goods for next year though. Maybe next year we'lll celebrate with more people and then we won't all just eat cake with a fork straight from the cake...
Next up on the big-fancy-agenda is Dibble's bar mitzvah! I can't believe it!!! Invitation is done and out so that's good. Now it's on to the baking and montaging! Crazy amounts of work ahead but should be fun!
